Hidden gem...
Just discovered this on TCM. Historic and entertaining.
shareI also watched it tonight on TCM. Love to watch the forgotten "Race" films of the 20s. 30s. and 40s. Francine Everett was a pretty good actress. I wonder if her acting and mannerisms influenced Dorothy Dandridge in Carmen Jones since she was pre-Dandridge. Considering the production limitations Spencer Williams had at the time, this film is pretty good.
shareAgreed, I wish TCM would show more race films. I love seeing African Americans on film in the Golden Age of Hollywood playing normal roles, instead of degrading roles like house maid or porter.
shareI didn't think it was half bad considering the possible limited budget.
