Miss Lupino's role and performance

I've seen this film several times in my life. Each time I saw it, my heart broke anew for Emily Bronte. Miss Lupino's performance was nothing short of wonderful. She truly conveyed the feelings of unrequited love. Each time she was rebuffed and rebuked and rejected by Paul Henreid, it felt like a stab in my heart. Until finally my heart broke for her.

Yeah, she's a good actress but i really can't buy into this movie because there is no evidence that Emily Bronte was in love with Arthur.

reply

It is make believe but Ms Lupino's performance is wonderful.

reply

Lupino was the best in the film.

Lupino is arguably the most under-rated actress in Hollywood history. She was indeed quite special.

It is a good performance, but I am never really convinced by it because no evidence exists that Emily Bronte was ever in love with anyone. It's an entertaining film though.
