Simply Fantastic.

Excellent film...spectacular little noir...a gem!

Indeed! Why so few posts about this amazing movie?

I underestimated it. I loved the dialogue, liked the characters, but as someone else posted somewhere, I was totally unprepared for the surprising ending. The clues were all there. This is not only a great film noir, it's a great mystery story. Only thing, there is no detective like Rex Stout or Perry Mason around.

I came to love the movie but at first I was rather frustrated. Why would anyone be so stupid to hang around an unknown apartment where a woman was murdered? He knew she had a criminal looking brother who knew he had been there.

They proceed to touch things all over the apartment; move things around; have a snack; leave and come back; bring in other people; let themselves be seen; go off to meet potential killers; it all seemed so far-fetched.

As it progressed I just tried to go with it. Eventually I had to just enjoy it for what it is.
