Anyone notice some similarities?

None at all...outside of they both had Clifton Webb.

Yes, the character played by Webb was the very much like the one he played in Laura.

TOO much alike. His obsession with his wife - Cathy Downs - was way too
similar to Waldo Lyedecker. This is a nice little film, but it borrows
from other, superior films. And Mark Stevens has all the charisma of a
thumb tack. With beautiful, young Lucy beside him, he didn't stand a
chance. Still, an interesting little film though.

The actress playing Webb's wife Cathy looked like Gene Tierney's stunt double.
