... so right at the end of the film, Mom Griggs says: "Your father left me courage. The courage to go on... alone." Frank Morgan was still handing out courage six years after he gave it to the cowardly lion as the Wizard.

That's a meaningless coincidence. There is absolutely nothing ironic about it.
