Pins on the map of Europe.

Early in the movie is a scene where an OSS officer signals his certainty that his agents have been executed by removing pins from a map. It is a small touch, something you might hardly notice, but, at the same time, it is very Fritz Lang.

Peter Bogdanovich, of course, is an admirer of Fritz Lang. He mentions "Cloak and Dagger" during his his commentary on the DVD for "Fury".

When I saw the officer removing the pins, it reminded me of how Rusty Dennis's death in "Mask" is filmed. It made me wonder if this film influenced Bogdanovich when he was making "Mask," and, if so, whether it was conscious or not.
