What happened to 'Centennial Summer?'

"Centennial Summer," a 1946 film containing an appealing score by Jerome Kern, has vanished from the television screen. It was shown for many years, but is now among the missing. I do not suggest it is the equal of "Meet Me in Saint Louis" but it is certainly worth seeing and listening to. I believe it is Kern's last movie score. Anybody know anything about what has happened to it?

It disappeared about the time the many film catalogues only became available on cable, as broadcast channels ceased to largely show vintage films. I believe this is a product of the Fox film company, so perhaps you should contact The Fox Movie Channel to see if they might show it.

Twilight Time will be releasing it as a 3000-copy limited edition Bluray on August 12th.

Sadly, a rights complication has hindered the above-mentioned Twilight Time release. My guess is that this rights problem has kept it from all Home Video formats and no doubt from cable and TV broadcasts in recent years. The good news is that Fox have restored the elements and are hopefully working on clearing the rights issues up. (as Warners did for the 1943 version of THE DESERT SONG which was unseen for decades and is at last available for purchase- and a restored print to boot!)
