When Lilly loses her bar to Trumbo, what card game, specifically, are they playing? I don't mean the all-or-nothing card split, but the game with the chips where she was dealing cards face up.

Good question. I wondered the same thing. Figured it was some sort of poker with eight cards face up and the players are dealt a hand to work with them - sort of like they play on tv championship series but with more "community" cards. More importantly, that was one helluva lucky streak Milland had! Hard to imagine anyone that lucky.

The name was originally spelled "Pharaoh", which was the name of the evil captain -- Pharaoh Coffin -- though that may be entirely coincidental.

Of course, I can't believe I didn't think of that. There are lots of westerns with notorious Faro dealers. I think Wyatt Earp even did it at one time. Thank you, I'll have to look up how to play.
