English DVD?

I am seeking a NEW version of this film - NOT the one from Korea! I have that one already...apparently this WAS released (English-ally) in 1998 - when nobody HAD dvd players! It was also apparently re-released in 2002

- but only in Region 2 format!

Does anyone know when - or IF - this will be released in Region 1 format?

Thanks!

This was released in Australia in Region 4 Format a couple of years ago. It does seem strange that there is no region 1 release, especially with Leigh being British and all...

Maybe you should invest in a multi-region player.

This film seems to have all but disappeared from circulation in the US - I can't even recall if it was available on VHS tape - I saw it once, many years ago, on a Public Broadcasting Station, and even then (the 1970s, I think) the print they showed wasn't in great shape.

Caesar and Cleopatra is included as part of a 12-dvd Stewart Granger collection. It's in region 2, and seems to be a complete version of the film without the disgusting narration that crops up in some of the video issues. I think the Janus films version that pops up on TV was recut for American distribution and the narration takes the place of the first scene of the play.

I bought a Region 2 copy of it, it's an ITV DVD release, the same series that includes The 39 Steps, The Red Shoes, The African Queen, Blithe Spirit and more.
