The cars in this film
There are several scenes in this film where they're driving a car and in the front window is a sticker with the big letter B. What did this mean?

shareI believe that's a gas rationing sticker. This movie was made at the end of World War Two when gas rationing was still in effect. An "A" sticker was what most people were assigned meant you could buy four gallons of gas. A "B" sticker meant some one was import to the war effort and could buy eight gallons of gas for a week.

Yes, I've since found out that it was a gas rationing sticker...thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
shareYour Welcome.
Other categories were "C" which was more or less unlimited and was given to doctors, members of the clergy and other professional people stateside military people who were import to the war effort.
"M" was given to motorcycles; mostly those used by messenger services and those used by Civil Daffance workers.
"T" stickers were also unlimited and given to trucks.
Unlimited X stickers were given to people in high mileage jobs but also given to members of Congress and other VIPs. So much for shared sacrifice.
