Any chance of a DVD

I recently read the novel Beware of Pity and I would love to see this film. Unfortunately, I no longer have a VCR. Does anyone anywhere know if this film will ever come out in DVD?

Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question about the DVD. I own a US video tape of the film but I live in England and I haven't got a US player. I'd love it if someone brought out a DVD. I'm also trying to find out who owns the film rights as I would like to remake it. Is anyone listening?

I doubt it, having seen this recently, I'd say the book is much better anyway by Stefan Zweig. The movie is soft. But still better than most of the stuff out there.

He’s probably one of the most psychologically astute writers ever.
Beware of Pity, Post Office Girl, Chess Story
But hands down, the ultimate: The World Of Yesterday. He wrote first hand about the downfall of western culture: pre WWI until after… tragic and true and beautiful.

Finally saw the movie when TCM aired it a couple of weeks ago. It was good but I much prefer the book.

Having just finished reading this brilliant novel, I like some others back in 2008, am wondering if there is a DVD, and see you have recently posted saying that you have one. Can you point me in the right direction to acquire a copy, although it does appear from other postings to be a pale reflection of the book.

reply

I can send a copy. Maybe we can trade? Send an e_mail.
