Bedlam (2009)

When searching for this film I noticed one of the search results was a film entitled Bedlam with a 2009 release date. Unfortunately there are no further details available unless you have IMDb Pro. Does anyone know if this is a remake?

Words cannot express how much I hope that it isn't...

I dunno, but there's an Isle of the Dead listed for (I think) 2009 too.

What's the Spanish for drunken bum?

Probably. I remember reading on Bloody-Disgusting a few RKO pics are to be remade

I am hoping that this will not be remade. It is a subtle film and it has a love story that though minor to the plot is sweet and gradual. A remake will be gratuitous and short on plot.

I heard they were remaking I Walked With A Zombie also. It could be interesting with a more detailed back story and a romantic treatment but I am still horrified at the thought.

Sad. You just know they are going to ruin it. :(

What made movies like Bedlam and I Walked With a Zombie work so well was, quite simply, the atmosphere the filmmakers created rather than an over-reliance on special effects (especially since their fairly thin budgets wouldn't allow much in the way of special effects).

I was lucky enough to catch a double bill of Isle of the Dead and I Walked With a Zombie earlier this month (Aug, 2009) and seeing these movies again made me appreciate how well-made they were. Maybe not big on scares, but big on building a story and pulling you into it.
