The Men Who Tread on the Tiger's Tail is one of four titles being released in Criterion's Eclipse Series 23 box set, The First Films of Akira Kurosawa, on Aug. 3, 2010. The others are Sanshiro Sugata, Sanshiro Sugata Part II, The Most Beautiful. SRP $59.95.
shareWell hobnob, when TCM was showing Kurosawa movies in March (to celebrate his centennial), I had a chance to see THE MEN WHO TREAD ON THE TIGER'S TAIL for the very first time. The most interesting part about it was how short it really was! I think this was Kurosawa's shortest film (running about an hour at least). Did not have a chance to see the other films, so this will be my catch up (and thanks for the heads-up!).
Heck, Criterion is on fast-forward. I just saw the brand new releases of BLACK NARCISUSS and THE RED SHOES, but have not bought them yet. Heck, I have not bought Criterion's release of STAGECOACH or the George Bernard Shaw set which includes ANDROCLES AND THE LION. Money has been tight for me, but they are all there sitting in the shelves at a local Barnes & Noble and waiting for me!
