On Turner Classic Movies at 6:15 pm tonight

TONIGHT AND EVERY NIGHT, the movie with Marc Platt's fantastic dance solo, excerpted in BALLETS RUSSES, is showing at 6:15 pm EST, tonight on Turner Classic Movies. While the entire movie is reportedly not too fabulous, it's worth it to me to record it for any little bit of Mr. Platt's work I can see. This movie isn't available on dvd, and is rarely shown, so I hope folks who care get to see it this time (I found out by chance just now). TCM should have promoted it by showing that great dance number. Bravo, Marc Platt!

I thought it was much better than I'd been led to believe - Marc Platt's dancing is amazing! And Rita is just luminous in it. I particularly loved the costuming in this picture.

I'm not much of a song and dance fan, but I continued to watch as I began to suspect that this is the same historical Windmill Theatre as in 'Mrs. Henderson Presents' (2005), that operated throughout the London Blitz. Obviously, Hollywood at that time wasn't going to do a movie about a strip club, especially one in which the girls held still poses.

This has a darkness to its imagery which I suspect comes from Turner colorizing a black and white film.

The movie wasn't colorized by Turner, it was shot in Technicolor. Just that the lighting was dark at times, given the setting and storyline of the movie.
