Confusing..Great Moments, Still Lost

I've read all 17 reviews posted here and they vary from glossy praise to bluntly hating the movie. HAYWORTH was great and gave a medicore movie her best every minute nonetheless. Bowman was unimpressive (how did Rita go from avoiding him to loving him so quickly), why was Janet Blair (who I think put out the best performance here as she did herown singing)not given more time with Tommy (another great performance)? But my massive confusion comes in the last few minutes...Judy & Tommy finally begin to express feelings for each other when they're killed minutes later and as the show goes on, Paul, who is about to marry and leave on a honeymoon w/Rita, says "I know, you'll be staying"..and she agrees..Did that mean that they were going to stay together while apart doing different things for the war or that this was the inevitable end for them?
