Can't get past the singing...

I just have a big problem with the fact that Rita Hayworth spent so much of her career doing musicals and never sang for herself. I wonder if people knew that she couldn't sing at the time she made these films. Interesting of course, she told the truth when she appeared on What's My Line as a celebrity guest. When asked if she was a singer, she said "no".

I watched this embarrassing mess, but beautiful technicolor just the other day on a digital new channel that repeats old movies, mostly Columbia Picture studio . Yes, her singing was always dubbed, but not Janet Blair's, who was a nice package herself. I was watching that scene where both of them were in a sketch singing in their LongJohns, and I gotta say, Besides her looks, she certainly was a bit on the heavy side with that outfit. As a dancer, it certainly hasn't given her a sleek figure. Also, she wasn't the redhead they showed her as in Cover Girl. Actually, she was a brunette. They said that women with red hair, ask Lucille Ball, photographed the best in a technicolor movie...yes, even the great Greer Garson, for another.
