Lauritz Melchior

I noticed one odd description of this movie, in the satellite dish onscreen summary for this movie, it was described as, "An Army major keeps an aquatic newlywed company, with a resort-band singer as their chaparone." "Resort-band singer" is hardly accurate to describe Lauritz Melchior! The writer obviously had never seen the movie! Too bad, it was a nice bit of fluff, made at the end of WWII to give the soon-to-come-home boys an upbeat preview of their possible postwar life.

Sic transit... I remember him from the 40s. What a pleasure to hear he was to hear. And of course this was as much his movie as it was Esther’s and Van’s. Great to see her in a role where the swimming was not everything. What a beautiful woman she was. Rip.
