James Mason's Performance

The movie was raised to a significant level because of James Mason's performance as the cruel husband, Geoffrey Lee. The woman who played Charlotte, his wife, was also effective, but James Mason was convincing, showing nothing but focused determination to be domineering and abusive. Well done! It's a role that is simular to his role in "North By Northwest," when he played the charming but evil Vandamn.

I thought the performance was more like " Bigger Than Life" when he was addicted to cortisone.

I have to agree with both of you. 

What does that mean? I can't tell if it's meant to be a good or a bad review.

In any case, I agree with the OP. I thought Mason's performance was believable and very good. I was convinced. Kudos to the rest of the cast too! I found myself feeling sorry for them; forgetting at times it was just a movie.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
