'Our State Fair' Lyrics

The Lyrics for "Our State Fair" say:

"It's the best state fair in the state"

Isn't there only one state fair in any given state, generaly held near the capitol city. There are County Fairs but i am pretty sure there is only one per state.

The lyrics are being playful. Of COURSE it's the best state fair in the state if there is only one state fair.

It's "the best state fair in OUR state." Ajprice is right--it's dollars to donuts that Hammerstein was engaging in a little wordplay.

It's meant to be a joke. The song is also meant to sound like an advertising jingle for the State Fair that one might have heard on the radio at the time.
