Has anybody heard him sing ... ?

I'm just curious to know if anyone has ever heard Dana Andrews sing or know of any recordings by him? He was supposed to have a fine well-trained baritone voice and it would be great to hear him somehow, somewhere. Would appreciate any replies with helpful info. Thanks, Lora

wondering if he did his own singing in the severely edited musical segments of THE NORTH STAR (1943) -- a folksy Russian interlude that often gets cut. Many years later at a special showing of BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES in which he made a personal appearance, host Max Showalter persuaded him to perform a little ditty from an early stage musical. At age 75 and looking trim and handsome, he entertained the gathering with a splendid rendition from memory.

Yes, isn't it odd....Hollywood has a singer and dubs him, where as in other films they let nonsingers sing... and not too good effect either. 3 that come to mind right away....Jimmy Stewart, Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin.

He sang 'The Battle Hymn Of the Republic' in 'The Purple Heart'.

I heard Dana Andrews in a road show of PAINT YOUR WAGON in New Jersey in either 1966 or 1967. He could definitely sing, and sing beautifully. I don't know if he made any recordings, though...or what else he might have done.

He also sings a little song in the movie "The North Star", nothing much to show off his voice though. I would have liked to hear him in something better.
