One of R&H's lesser works

Don't get me wrong, State Fair is still fun, light, breezy entertainment with a few good numbers, but I can see why Rodgers was never very fond of it: it's lacking in dramatic stakes and the songs suffer as a result, being all more or less happy upbeat tunes without much variety unlike some of R&H's other musicals like King and I or Sound of Music.
