Spellbound and The Manchurian Candidate (spoilers)

I found some parallels between those films worth considering:

- two look-alike lead characters - Laurence Harvey and Gregory Peck http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/9554/38mw.jpg

- plot parallels: soldier gets injured in battle, returns home, has to deal with amnesia/repressed memories

- playing cards are a central element of the trauma: seven of club vs. queen of diamonds http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/4959/55ca.jpg

- comparably shot scenes with an armed protagonist threatening an older man who is about to have a milk http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/5757/46pg.jpg

Interesting.

"How could I have known that murder can sometimes smell like honeysuckle?"

Yes, I was thinking the same thing while going through all the comments on this board, and wondering why no one else brought the subject up.

Another parallel, of course, is the endings of both movies in which Murchison turns the gun on himself in this movie, and Raymond Shaw does the same thing in TMC (1962).
