Did Cornel Wilde actually play the piano scenes?

After just watching this movie on TCM, I was wondering if Wilde actually played the piano in the movie? If so, he is certainly gifted. It appeared that he was actually playing. Does anyone know?

Not at all, unfortunately. Actually, it was a spanish pianist, José Iturbi, the responsable for the music played on the movie. :(

If you want to see this remarkable pianist in the 'flesh', catch "Thousands Cheer" -- very versatile (from classical to boogie-woogie!)

The hands you see in the closeups are those of Ervin Nyíregyházi, who had the same job in the Schumann biopic "A Song to Remember". Some of the music that I hear sounds more like Nyíregyházi's way of performing (which, put simply, is exaggerated) than Iturbi's, and I wouldn't be surprised if he did perform bits and pieces of the music.

That movie was SONG OF LOVE, with Paul Henreid and Katharine Hepburn.
