It's special to see parts of the city in this movie

Some of the area's of the city shown in this movie are Cottman Av., Navy Yard, St. Leo's church in the Northeast and the Foundry where the two men worked which is still along Rt.#95. also, you can see the house driving North on Rt#95 at one point just before you get to Rt.#73 and the Tacony Palmyra Bridge.

Your right, as a matter of fact, the rail platform is still there I think?..I take the train into town and when it's at 30th St. station I see an old platform that looks very similar.

I'm from Philly, too. My Mom was working at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard (the "Navy Yard") during the filming of this movie. She met Garfield, Eleanor Parker and other actors at that time making an appearance promoting War Bonds. She remembers John Garfield as being very nice and he gave a nice speech thanking the women working on the homefront. Ironically, my Dad was wounded in WWII and lost a leg. Some of the scenes in the movie, especially when he comes home echo a lot of what my Dad and Mom experienced. -Susan
