tidy little quasi-noir

I just discovered the Whistler movies recently, and this one delivers a fun story done in eminently B movie style. I'm unable to contribute to the generally good reviews Richard Dix has received for his performances in this series, at least based on this film and the original Whistler. Here he just seems washed out and turns in a sluggish performance. As far as the cast is concerned this entry is most interesting for the ladies, who include a very young Jeff Donnell and a very fetching Janis Carter. There's also Tala Birell as an exotic ballerina.
