Norwegian nickname?

What is Edward G. Robinson calling Margaret O'Brien in this movie? I believe it's some kind of term of endearment, sounds like Yendami, Jendami...? I can't find it anywhere in Norwegian dictionaries, etc.

reply

Jente mi -- my girl (the J is pronounced like a Y)

Margaret O'Brien's character says something about it near the beginning, when riding in the car with "Editor" -- translating it literally as "girl mine."

is hardly EVER shown.

This year, for instance.....it hasn't been shown at all. It's such a tender. touching, sweet, beautiful little film. I can't understand why it has been so forgotten.

No car crashes or explosions. It shows boring attributes of life that no one wants to see today, pleasure in simple things, the trials of life, children who adore their parents, the devotion to those in ones community. Today's producers don't think that would make a dime.

Well there is a fully involved barn fire,
the mass shooting of 21 cows,
and a runaway white water rapids bathtub boat with 2 children in it!

. Ephemeron.
