VHS or DVD release

When will this movie be released on DVD? TCM has never shown it in the 4 years that I have had it added to my cable package and I can't find it at my local blockbuster. If anyone knows where I can even get a VHS copy please let me know. Thanks, [email protected]

Eventually its got to come out on DVD, if you can't wait and if you can afford to splurge than buy a used vhs on amazon or half.com, etc. I haven't looked to hard to see if its anywhere else for cheaper. Joseph Cotton and Jennifer Jones are a good pair to watch :)

I believe TCM is airing Love Letters later this summer. Joseph Cotten and Jennifer Jones were mesmerizing together in Portrait of Jennie. This film also sounds quite fascinating. From the user reviews here, Love Letters sounds like an excellent film.

LOVE LETTERS will show on TCM again on Feb 14, 12:30AM

The way you check when a movie will be shown by TCM is you write the movies´name on the ¨movie database¨ search engine, then you click on the title and you will look on the upper right corner under PLAYING ON TCM whether they will show the movie or not, usually they let you know when it will show within the next scheduled three months.

There's a site which sells hard to find movies on DVD and VHS: http://www.movielead.com/ which carries the Love Letters and many other classics not yet released on home video. They say they order and ship directly from the LA film archives and that they are an industry-based search service, not an e-commerce or internet-based retailer. Thus, they claim their business is legal. Check it out.

There's no such thing as the "LA film archives".

Sorry to disappoint you but The UCLA Film and Television Archive Collections¨ do exist. Check them out: http://www.cinema.ucla.edu/collections/collections.html. It would be wise if you give the Movie Lead Team a call.
http://www.movielead.com/ That should eliminate all your doubts and misconceptions.

Oh, please. For the love of God. Use some sense. The video bootlegger didn't say - "The UCLA Film and Television Archive Collections". They don't even say the "LA film archives". They state on their web site - "the archives" to fool people like you.

Do you really think that The UCLA Film and Television Archive Collections is going to help some movie bootlegger fill orders for his own profit?

And what kind of legit place doesn't list an address or makes you give your phone number before they will process an order?

Get real.

reply

I responded to your comment that denied the existence of the LA Film Archives. It does exist. That is besides any other fact herewith discussed.
Then, it looks to me that they are not bootleggers the way they do business in the open.
But if you are so sure that their business is illegal, you should report them to the authorities in California and have them taken out of business. Keep us posted and good luck.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Plain English seems beyond your ability to comprehend. There is no "LA Film Archives". Even the bootlegger isn't claiming that. You must have voted for Obama.

reply

I am confident that my ability to comprehend any language surpasses yours by far, I am tri-lingual. I bet you are an average American who cannot speak a word beyond English.
I have not spoken with Movielead since 2006 but yes, they did say their films were copies from the LA archives. That doesn´t mean there has to be a place called specifically ¨LA Archives,¨ but that seems to be beyond your comprehension. Whatever the case, the point you are making is that their business is illegal. If you are so damned sure, then take them out of business. Who I voted for is out of the subject and none of your business. Have a good life.

Yes, I am just an average American who speaks only one language - the kind of average American who's saved the asses of people like you for generations whether they be thankless foreigners (like yourself?) sucking up American culture or whether they be self-entitled Obama-mericans (like yourself?) who think they are owed their life on this planet.

Next time you want to rag on 'average Americans', take a look around and see what you have and where you are and then go THANK and AVERAGE AMERICAN for it, you graceless, poise-less, uncomprehending tart.

Your ignorance and stupidity on the subjects under discussion here rank second to none.

reply

you are a fool. kindly name me just one "ass" that the average american has saved since 1776. try and do this without regurgitating the sort of of propaganda that only dumb americans take seriously e.g. "if it wasn't for us you would all be speaking russian". no wonder the chimp "dubya" encountered virtually no domestic opposition to invading iraq. when it comes to matters outside the usa the average american patriot has got his head up his backside.

Turner Classic Movies will be showing this movie on 8/16 at 8:oo PM. I also wish that it would be released on DVD. I have read that it is very good. I am a big fan of Jennifer Jones and the movies she did with Joseph Cotten were among her best. Portrait of Jennie is another great movie!!!

reply

I have the VHS tape of Love Letters. I have always adored this movie. I think the pairing of Jennifer Jones with Joseph Cotton was inspired! They were good friends in real life, and it comes across on screen. They have a wonderful chemistry together. And Jennifer Jones was (and is) so beautiful!

reply

I too have been looking for Love Letters on DVD. It has been a favorite of mine since I was a child and I haven't found anything comparable, except for perhaps Portrait of Jennie which I have ordered from Amazon. I went to Turner Classic Movies site and if you look up "Love Letters", you can vote for it to be released on DVD.

With the recent release of Lake House on DVD, I've been telling people about these two classic love stories with Joseph Cotton and Jennifer Jones that surpass all the rest. I was surprised to find that Love Letters was not available, not even at Ebay. It is time for this duo to be introduced to a new generation. Some stories are timeless.

"Love Letters",1945 w/ J.Jones and J. Cotton aired on TCM yesterday, 8/16/06. Perhaps if you write them, or check online, you can find out when they expect to rebroadcast it.

reply

i havent seen this, but want to see it.This film was voted in 1945 as the favorite film of american troops stationed overseas.Just for this reason alone it should have been already on DVD when so much garbage is out on disc.
