Jeanne Crain

Reading all the comments on Gene Tierney's magnificent, iconic beauty(of which I agree), I must say that in matters of personal, subjective attraction, I prefer Jeanne Crain's face, voice and overall appearance to that of Genes. She may not be as close to the genetic ideal that Ms. Tierney embodies...but I find her look much more relatable and appealing.

I agree. Crain is far more attractive than Tierney.

here here!

Same here. Gene Tierney is beautiful, but in this movie, she had a "hardness" to her that was right for the character, but which, I think, made Jeanne Crain look and act much more attractive.

You know the sound of wind rushing through treetops? That's my signature.

reply

Agree completely. Jeanne Crain is more attractive than Tierney in this film.

reply

Nah..I don't think shes that pretty. Gene is gorgeous.

"The moral of this scene is never trust a guy who plucks his eyebrows."

They are/were both very beautiful but in this film I couldn't take my eyes off of Jeanne Crain's legs.......Yummy.........A close second is the scene where Gene Tierney is looking up from Cornel Wilde's lap with that killer "overbite". I nearly wet myself.

I have to agree with you. I still think Gene Tierney is very beautiful, but there is something "wholesome" about Jeanne Crain which I find tremendously appealing.

I still think she's the most appealing in "State Fair."

When we first see Gene on the train, she is stunning. But as the movie progresses and the ugliness of her character starts to emerge, she becomes less attractive.

reply

I'll take either one of them.

I agree - Jeanne Crain has much more of the "girl next door" Teresa Wright beauty. And, dare I say - I am surprised by so many people commenting on Gene Tierney's beauty. Personally , I just don't see it. She's in the "Loretta Young" class to me, which is a step below stars from that period like Vivien Leigh and Hedy Lamarr. Different strokes, I guess.

In this movie, Tierney was not supposed to be "relatable" anyway.
She played an almost-supernatural character.
