Ivan, impact on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings?

Watching this, I was struck by some similarities with Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.

In particular, the battering ram Grond seems to have been modeled along the lines of the cannon, and the seige towers looked similar as well (although I suppose a seige tower is a seige tower...)

Most of the characters looked like they would fit right in.

I agree and I think it was somewhat of an influence of Peter Jackson.

Yes, I think the ghoulish looks and lighting of Archbishop Pimen, dressed in white, have influenced the characterization of Saruman in Lord of the Rings, also seen in the Hildebrandt Brothers drawings of the same figure.
