I just noticed a cord on the lantern, on the beach

I LOVE this film, and have watched it dozens of times. Tonight, though, I just noticed the lantern Oliver is carrying, when the general and he are walking back to the boat to leave the island, has a CORD!
Maybe they ran out of lantern fuel due to the war.....

I saw that just today while watching the movie. Very strange that they made NO effort to conceal the cord as it really stood out on the beach. Weird oversight. Good catch!
