Yeah--and then in the late 1940s and 1950s Karl Fuchs and Julius and Ethel Rosenberg came along stealing secretes of the Manhattan Project to give to the Soviet Union because they thought their ideology trumped any value of patriotism or commitment or decency... While the movie has plenty of hoke, there is a tough reality of spy vs. spy and the implications of subversion.
