so her boyfriend was evil?

Call me silly for discussing the plot points of a film like this, but I liked it and didn't get the ending. Why didn't he tell her about all the dead people? Why did he go in the corridor himself? I presume he's looking for the money... but he still could've told her there was an army of dead people in her house!

"Of course it's me, who were you expecting?"

Very little makes sense.

Watched this last night, think the boyfriend went into secret passageway to see what had happened to the others. Didn't tell the girl there were dead people all over the place because he didn't want to upset her. Assume he would tell police all the details when they reached the mainland. But he wasn't evil, just concerned about the girl.

I agree. However, he has some explaining to do as to how everything happened.

He could be held accountable maybe not for the deaths by drowning but for Leo and the psychics deaths which were Lionel Atwill's characters doing. Unless the cops back then looked no further and assumed they all did themselves in one way or another.

This wasn't made clear. However, I did wonder how he could go from being soaking wet in one scene, to fully dry and coiffed in the next. All I can think is that Gail must have taken a VERY long time to get ready...

***SPOILERS***

When Gail asks Jeff about the other people in the house, he answers without giving her the details of what's actually happened to them. This makes the viewer wonder if he can be trusted. Even though we are left in suspense, we must assume he is actually sparing her the details, until later, so that she won't panic while she's still in the house.
