1. I could be wrong about this but I don't think "casualwear" was even a thing back then. At least not in the same way it is now. I remember reading somewhere that things like T-shirts were meant exclusively to be worn under shirts and weren't meant to be worn as is. Basically, nowadays yes you would be considered weird for wearing a suit to a beach, but back then? That was probably the exact right kind of attire to be wearing.
3. I assume it's some kind of combination of not wanting to make it obvious that they're even leaving town - Eric explicitly tells June not to bother packing anything - and having the ability to just cut and run, so to speak, if they're spotted. In their own car, the police will be able to put a description out of the vehicle making it more likely that they'd be caught whereas if they're just seen hitch-hiking, the best the cops could do is a "last seen in blahblahblah" by which time they could have potentially caught a lift with someone else. I admit I've never fully understood that either but that's the best attempt at an explanation I can think of.
4. This was actually explained by the cops after June was picked up in SF. Basically, Eric just needed to put something in their safety deposit so that he'd be able to return at a later date, have a reason for wanting to gain access to the box and steal the money under the premise of collecting what he'd left in there.
5. I could be wrong about this but I got the impression that, although the trip itself was planned in advance, actually getting married on that particular trip wasn't. Eric just felt increasingly under pressure to get the whole thing over and done with as soon as possible in case he lost his chance with Stella. Plus he was presumably a bit worried that June's sister didn't seem to trust him at all (or even like him very much) and the longer he kept playing it all out, the more time she'd have to potentially warn June away from him. So he decided to just seize that opportunity.
