Robert Le Vigan as Jericho

Several sources say that only one sequence survives with Le Vigan in the role and they point to the one in part two, where Jéricho comes backstage and tells Nathalie that Garance in waiting for Baptiste in her box.

But when I look closely at that sequence, all I see is Pierre Renoir; his voice is quite recognizable, as are his silhouette and his characteristic nose. Compared to his appearance in other films, he even sports the same small warts on his face, so we can be sure it is the same man.

So, is Le Vigan's appearance just part of conventional wisdom, a myth often repeated (even in Criterion's commentary) without anyone bothering to check or is there indeed a fleeting shot where we see Le Vigan and not Renoir?

I was wondering if it was the scene were Jericho is played by another actor in the theatre piece.

Non!
LOL. That was Baptiste's father (don't recall his name), playing the Ragman.

Carpe Noctem!

As far as I know, one and only one scene was shot with Le Vigan before this one fled with Céline to Siegmaringen in Germany.
Then, without him, the production had no other choice than to find a replacement, Pierre Renoir. And the scene was re-shot.
