Lovely Movie....

This film is a little gem, and, I believe, was Robert Young's favorite. Irresistible and touching, it tugs at the heart. I don't know that it could be re-made today, with the same magic.

It's so hard to take a classic such as this movie and re-make it. Though the re-makes are usually good, there is nothing better then watching the original. This was the most touching story I have ever seen. Many tears through this movie.

Yes, I agree... this 1945 movie is one of my favorites. Actually, it was a silent movie before it was a "talkie". See the following webpage about the silent movie version of 1924:

I go back to this movie time and time again. What a wonderful, mysterious, romantic mood it sets! The music is glorious, and the sets make you wish you could step right into them. The leads are perfect, the supporting actors, just right. Mrs. Minnet's (sp?) "pretty to him" speech gets me every time! *sniff*

I read years ago that Oprah had bought the rights to this story with the intention of remaking it. Frankly, I hope she doesn't. I just don't see how it could be improved upon.

Wow! What a beautiful enchanting love story!!! I had tears in my eyes all the way through the movie. I love Dorothy McGuire and Robert Young! They have so much chemistry together, no wonder they did make a few movies together, the year before was "Claudia". This is a true classic gem and there's no movie out there at this time could beat this one!! Though Dorothy suppose to look ugly in the movie, but I still think she looks absolutely beautiful without all the makeup!!!

This is one of my all time favorite movies too! I so love what it has to say about seeing beneath the surface to the beauty of someone's soul. And how love truly can transform us. For some reason, I always thought this movie should be turned into a stage play, rather than remade as a movie. Don't know why, really, just that it could be lovely on stage.

I enjoy some modern movies and actors. They can't make these kind of movies anymore. This movie is one of my favorites. I could see why it would be favorite for Robert Young. It's so touching and pulls at your heart strings. The movie has relatable message.
