If you like this movie

you will probably like:

The Ghost & Mrs. Muir (1947)
Portrait of Jennie (1948)
Somewhere in Time (1980)
The Uninvited (1944)

I really hate the recommendations you get from IMDb.

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

reply

I agree with all of those especially Portrait of Jenny, such a great film.

Life is for living, we all know, and I dont wanna live it alone...

"Portrait of Jennie" is one of my all time favorite films. I just love Joseph Cotten and Jennifer Jones together. They are such a perfect couple. Wonderful screen lovers. I also recommend another of my Favorites with them.
"Love Letters"

"Don't let's ask for the moon, we have the stars." "Now Voyager"

reply

I absolutely love "Since You Went Away" one of my all time favorites! I've lost count of how many times I've seen it and I'm so glad it is out on dvd.

You might also like Brief Encounter and Enchantment.

reply

I'd toss in 1992's Enchanted April, too.

(You are so right. You really have to wonder who is thinking what when you see some of the IMDb recommendations.)

reply

You could add Claudia to the list too. It was kind of a sequel tho not exactly. I never see Claudia on TCM either. I wish they would show it. Same actors.

reply

Claudia was a movie made before this that also starred Dorothy McGuire and Robert Young, and based on its' success they were teamed again here, but this is not a sequel. The sequel to "Claudia" was "Claudia and David", based on a popular novel of the time. The "Claudia" movies are shown sometimes on the Fox Classic Movie channel--not sure if that is the correct name.

Some other movies to consider would be "Random Harvest", "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn", again with Dorothy McGuire, and "Bright Victory"--these are all shown sometimes on TCM.

I've seen the first 3 on your list & agree. YOU make good recommendations! :)

reply

I'd like to add Marty (1955)

reply

The only one I haven't seen is The Uninvited. I love all the others on your list carflo, so I will definitely be watching The Uninvited. Thanks for the suggestions.
