Worst Movie Hat Ever

What was that thing on Kay Francis's head when we first see her on the train? It appeared to be a hat with a small dust mop attached to the front. Anyone here care to defend it?

It's funny that you mentioned her dust mop hat, which by the way not only looked ridiculous but obstructed her eyesight, because this is the first movie where I noticed a hat designer listed in the opening credits.

I always look for the costume designer on all older movies and not only was there a listing for who was responsible for Miss Francis's gowns but one for Miss Francis' hats. TCM's website has "Miss Francis' hats by Keneth Hopkins" http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/17094/Divorce/.

Miss Francis wears another dilly of a hat in Man Wanted (1932). It is an extraordinarily wide brimmed floppy woven straw two-toned sun hat - I found it online: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/179792210096926887/. She wears it as she gives dictation to her male secretary outside the pool area at the Bar Harbor Hotel.

Historically ladies hats have often been outrageous and not always in a good way -
