Dillinger's Pa

Was played by Victor Killian, who was uncredited. Kilian was in scores of Westerns during the 40s and 50s, including "The Ox-Bow Incident." He is probably best-known for his numerous roles as cranky but lovable old men on 1970s network television comedies and dramas. He is, however, probably best-known as Grandpa Larkin, the "Fernwood Flasher," on "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman."

And BTW, Dillinger's dad and a couple of other family members did go on the road after Johnnie's death to talk about him and his life.

I'm always amused by the fact that Dillinger's father, in newsreels of the period, pronounced the family name with a hard "g", a fact which the media assiduously ignored from that day to this, in favor of the more sonorous pronunciation.
