SPOILER - dogs who chase cars

Golfer Lee Trevino said, "dogs who chase cars and pros who putt for pars don't last long", a fate realized by facially challenged hitchhiker Ann Savage. She gives a fine performance as roadside trash, however, as does real life creep, Tom Neal. This is a compelling classic, which I enjoy watching repeatedly, although it should end with Neal walking down the highway to an uncertain future.
