Highly atmospheric with a great cast but the story takes a long time to develop and the characters are difficult to fit into the plot. No chemistry at all between Bacall and Boyer. In fact she was awful. Lorre seemed to struggle with his role too. Wanda Hendrix might be the best thing about the movie. The chauffeur might be the worst shot in movie history.

Boyer and his mission didn't seem very confidential either. His foes were aware of his presence and mission from the beginning of the movie. Only the audience and Bacall were trying to figure it out the entire way.
