No Gift Unwrapping In This Christmas Film

I noticed that tonight after watching the DVD. The events on the farm take place on Christmas Eve 🎄, Christmas Day 🎄 and the day after Christmas 🎄, but through it all, the presents under the tree could still be seen sitting there unopened. 🎁

Evidently, the characters were busy having their relationships reorganized. The intended gifts would not be appropriate after the action of the movie. Besides, who cares about some fictional gifts, anyway? On Christmas, I'm more interested in mine! 😄

Besides the babies, there were no kids in this film, anxious to discover what Santa brought them. Adults can wait. Besides, the leads were more interested in each other then anything under the tree.

For any viewer expecting a Christmas theme, the movie itself is like a gift that never gets unwrapped.

I was struck by the lack of any Christmas theme in this. I noticed it was originally released in August, 1945 which makes me wonder if it was intended for the Christmas market at all.

They opened them after the end of the movie. Poor John, his heart wasn't in it anymore.
