Anyone have an idea who owns the DVD distribution rights in the UK to many of Karloff's/Val Lewton's horror classics? In particular those which are available in the Region 1 box set (Bedlam, Body Snatcher, Isle of the Dead, Cat People etc) - I'm a huge fan but am really frustrated by the lack of releases in the UK.
shareI think that Universal owns the distribution rights to most of RKO's early catalogue in the UK... They certainly have the 1933 "King Kong". So the sad fact is that even if the films were released over here, we wouldn't be getting the same great special features.
shareThe Odeon Entertainment Group have released on DVD all three of the films Boris Karloff made for RKO producer Val Lewton, namely 'The Body Snatcher', 'Isle of the Dead' and 'Bedlam'. They have also released other Lewton pictures, namely 'The Leopard Man' and 'The Seventh Victim'.
