A sequel to Bataan (1943)?

Was this film meant to be a sequel to Bataan, the 1943 film starring Robert Taylor?

I haven't seen Back to Bataan but have seen Bataan. That film was about the initial Japanese capture of Bataan/the Philippines, thus chronologically precedes Back to Bataan.

The two movies have nothing in common, cast- and crew-wise (well, cast-wise there was never going to be an overlap...), so it seems independent of the 1943 one.
