For those of you that read the book...

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm going to rent it as soon as I can. How does it compare to the book. I want a few people's opinions so that I know what to expect.

I have read the book (Do they still use AG"s non-PC title?. I have also seen most, if not all of the film versions. In my judgement, this is the best version, but then who could resist berry Fitzgerald in any role?

I consider the book to be one of the Queen of Crimes most imaginative. Unfortunately it is not a "Whodunnit", there are no clues to point to the murderer. Nevertheless the ending is one of her most ingenious in any crime storey.

I agree with the reviewer, in that it would be nigh on impossible to translate the book's ending to stage or screen, but if a "Hollywood" ending is unavoidable. The film follows the plotline of the book as closely as possible, with the exceptions noted in the above review. Photography, acting (I liked June Duprez, but have to admit she was a bit colourless)and settings were all superb. Enjoy
