Self Portrait

This movie is remarkably like Scarlet Street. There are all the obvious similarities: Edward Robinson, Joan Bennett, and Dan Duryea are in both movies. The director is the same: Fritz Lang.

But most striking of all is the role of a painting. The painting is of Joan Bennett. In Scarlet Street, it's called Self Portrait and it's an important part of the plot. The movie even ends with a couple who are very happy because they bought the painting for only $10,000.

In TWITW, a painting of Joan Bennett is also very important as to the movement of the plot. The movies also ends with the painting as the focal point.
