It was like every line in this movie was just automated historical soundbites. It just seemed unrealistic to me as a portrayal unless he was stiff as a board in real life.

But in the old newsreels of the day, Woodrow does appear rather personable, as he smiles and waves from the porch of a caboose about to rail from the station at the depot of a city in which crowds gather to hear his speaking up and down the railroad lines.
Perhaps those may tie into campaign speaches, for which Woodrow may attempt to appear all the more personable, to relate to gatherings of normal Democrats across the beautiful Blue States.
But some may still say that he does come across as somewhat robotic, which he may just about have to be if he spent all of those years on college campuses.
After all, who could possible emerge unscathed from a college campus once all of those worthless professors cut you down to size for doing right?
What did you expect him to do, break-dance? This was an Ivy-League professor who came of age in Victorian times. He was well mannered, proper, maybe a tad prudish. I didn't find the performance robotic at all...but I think its interesting that you did..just goes to show how differently people can perceive actors!

I would strongly suggest that you do some true research into Wilson and his life. Befre his stroke, he was known to be really funny, would type up and perform impromptu Greek speeches, dance, and was very much a family man.
