This movie feels realistic!

This movie felt more realistic to me than many I've watched from this era. That family dynamic when Eleanor Parker brought Dennis Morgan home for dinner! Boy, you could cut the tension with a knife! We felt his bewilderment as he tried to figure out the personalities and conflicts going on as he just attempts to be polite and enjoy a home cooked meal.

I thought the relationships within the family elevated what could have otherwise been a expected wartime romance. You could really feel how the war was affecting each member of the family and how they interacted with each other.
