Pamela & Dr. Scott

Always found it interesting/odd that they shoehorn in a reference at the end that Pamela and the Doctor are interested in one another. Don't recall a single moment in the film where it's suggested that there's any romantic spark between them.

Any thoughts why? Maybe Hollywood's idea of a perfect little ending for the movie? Was there a Doctor in Dorothy MacArdle's original book? If so was a relationship hinted at there?

I think there was such a scene when Pamela finds her dog in the care of the Doctor. He says that he was in no hurry to find the owner of the dog, but after meeting her, he wishes he had. They give each other a flirty chuckle right afterwards.

Glad that TCM ran this movie again. I think they skipped it last year.
