This kid was really dangerous! *SPOILERS*

And they just let him stay in their house after he attacked the girl with a fireplace poker. It must have been a very different time then, because a child today who did that would get serious counseling and would be considered dangerous. It did have a very abrupt ending -- he burst into tears, is coerced by his uncle into admitting his father was a coward, then did a tearjerker speech about how he was beaten and tortured and locked in a cellar, then everyone agrees he can stay and they go to breakfast. He was a danger to everyone in the house. Plus, the actor's German accent was so fake it was ludicrous.

That's why I think it was amusing, to say the least. Let's face it. That kid's acting was...interesting (hehe). And the little girl was funny. I loved her. The little sayings she used I actually thought were cute for the time. I mean, he "bopped her on the beaner" before she was then ready to just have a nice breakfast with him. And that high-pitced screaming by Emil! Man! But one of my favorite parts is where the other kid gets in Emil's shyt in the field (beat dat ass). Their relationship, as well as Emil's with his girl cousin, kinda reminded me of something from the Little Rascals/Leave It To Beaver fame, except in a drama. All and all, it was a good enough movie for me -- comical from today's perspective, but it gets serious issues pointed out in light.

I just saw it again & liked it better this time. Yeah, Emil did have a high-pitched scream, I thought this time that he acted more like a seven year old than a 12 year old. I also realized that "Aunt Jessie" was so familiar because she was Endora from "Bewitched."

When he fighting that other kid, he pulled a knife on him. Would have killed him if the other kid hadn't been a better fighter. So he hits a girl from behind with a poker and pulls a knife on another kid. He was lethal little snake. Would you want to go to sleep in the same house with that brainwashed little assassin running around? He's really no different from today's Isis recruits.

You can never know what's truly going on in someone's mind. Would have been better to send the poisonous little Nazi back to Germany.

That little boy had some serious mental issues. He needed psychological help rather than golly gee he can live with the family, and all is forgiven.
