I thought the same thing - that was so cool. I wonder if Captain Morgan was around at the time or is it just a great coincidence? Or maybe the creators of the rum were influenced by the movie!

It's an even bigger coincidence that Captain Morgan Rum was first manufactured in 1944. Pretty crazy.

I believe both the rum and the character of Harry "Steve" Morgan were named after Morgan the Pirate (Sir Henry Morgan ("Hari Morgan" in Welsh), (ca. 1635 – August 25, 1688) ))
